TELL ME SHOW ME

This test is to show or tell the examiner about basic safety checks that any driver should carry out to ensure their vehicle is safe to use. For the car test, candidates will be asked two questions, one will be a show me question and one a tell me question. The test is conducted prior to starting your practical test.

OPEN THE BONNET, IDENTIFY
• Where you would check the engine oil and tell me if the engine has sufficient oil.
• Where you would check the engine coolant level and tell me if the engine has the correct level.
• Where the windscreen washer reservoir is and tells me how to check the fluid level.
• Where the brake fluid reservoir is and tells how you would check there is as safe level of brake fluid.

TELL ME HOW YOU WOULD CHECK THAT THE
• Brake lights are working.
• Brakes are working before starting your journey.
• Tyres have sufficient tread and are in good condition.
• The power steering is working before starting

SHOW ME HOW YOU WOULD CHECK THE
• Headlights and rear lights are working.
• Indicators are working.
• Horn is working.
• Parking brake for excessive wear.
